Small-Town Tech Support

At the General Store, an 86-year-old with a computer crisis asked a Hawbridge student for help. After patient questions, he gently said, “Let’s find a pro”—and bridged generations.

Embroiled in a computer problem, I took myself to the General Store where I was certain to find help. And, there he was, a teenaged Hawbridge student playing computer games. Could he help me, an 86 year old grey haired lady, with an apparently impossible problem, I queried? “He’d try”, was his response. After 20 minutes of question/answer/question, he looked me in the eye and kindly suggested we find a “professional”. He then located one nearby and explained how to contact same. At a time when generations seem clearly defined and perhaps distant from each another, he and I had made it across the years. That was even better than solving the computer problem.
