Blue Birds

Friends of the Mountains-to-Sea Trail donated six bluebird houses to Saxapahaw Forward. Set up at Hawbridge and Island Park, all now have nests—3 with eggs and 2 with hatchlings.

Last year, friends of the Mountains-to-Sea Trail donated six bluebird houses, replete with poles, and squirrel protectors to Saxapahaw Forward. The Saxapahaw Forward team then assembled the houses and placed them in Hawbridge Upper School’s flower garden, open field areas, and on the Island Park. Our feathered friends patiently waited for their houses and at the latest inspection all six have nesting material, three houses contain eggs, while hatchlings are being fed by busy parents in two others. I wonder what other birds we can lure to Saxapahaw.
